Situated in Edinburgh’s Old Town, Porteous Studio is a self-catering holiday rental. The property was designed and today is managed by the Isle of Harris-based architects Izat & Arundell, who bought the property as a garage before a full renovation. Izat & Arundell opened the studio to the public in 2017, and ever since, it has been in high demand.
Natural materials were used in the apartment to foster a warm and serene atmosphere. Clay plaster walls naturally regulate the humidity. Limestone tiles run throughout the living spaces. The furniture was produced from a single oak tree, which was sourced locally and speaks to the sense of wholeness the space exudes. A quiet retreat from the city, Porteous Studio is the perfect place for design lovers to escape and relax after a day exploring Edinburgh.
